We ranked these with one question in mind: if a friend were spending a few days in Marseille and wanted to see the Château d'If, what would we tell them to book, and in what order? The trips that put you on or around the island come first; the Calanques, the city and the day trips follow.
Ratings and review counts are from GetYourGuide at the time of writing. Some of the Château d'If products are new and have few reviews yet — we say so where it matters. Prices are indicative and will show in your own currency when you click through.

How to combine them
For a two- or three-day stay: on the first calm morning, take the shuttle (or a boat with entry) to the Château d'If, continue to Frioul for a swim and lunch, and come back in the afternoon. On another day, take a half-day Calanques boat trip, and spend the rest of your time on foot in the Old Port, Le Panier and Notre-Dame de la Garde. Keep an evening for a sunset cruise. Our itineraries set this out day by day.
Because the Mistral can stop the boats, book the island trip for the start of your stay, so there is time to try again.
What we left out
Marseille has several hundred bookable activities. We left out near-duplicates, products with few or poor reviews (unless they are the only way to do something), and private charters priced per boat. The live widgets on the tours page show the full range.
